Oita born Japanese international midfielder, Hiroshi Kiyotake started his professional career at hometown club Oita Trinita in 2008 before moving to Cerezo Osaka. Spending 2 seasons at Cerezo, Kiyotake made the move to FC Nurnberg in 2012. Two years later, he transferred to Hannover 96 where Kiyotake scored 10 goals in his 55 appearances in two seasons. But the team relegated to Bundesliga 2nd division. So he agreed to join the Europa League winner Sevilla for the next four years in 2016.
In Spain, Japanese international failed to secure his place in Jorge Sampaoli’s first-choice team, making only four La Liga appearances because of other talented players like Samir Nasri, Vitolo and Franco Vazquez.
Finally, he decided to return to his ex-side Cerezo Osaka ahead of 2017 J-league season.
Meanwhile, Kiyotake is steadily making a name for himself in Samurai Blue. He was selected as an attacking midfielder for Japan’s Under-23 at the London Olympics and also joined the senior team squad for 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, despite coming on in the 85th minute against Colombia.
After the disappointing 2014 World Cup, Kiyotake was replacing Honda and Kagawa as starter for national side. He scored for Japan National team on a first-half penalty kick in the 45th minute with a 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier at Saitama Stadium. It means he is getting a key player in the National team.
