Jubilo Iwata is a J.League professional football club based in Iwata city, Shizuoka prefecture and its home stadium is Yamaha Stadium, which is used only for ball sports such as football and rugby.

The team was founded as Yamaha Motor Corporation Football Club in 1972 then won the Emperor’s Cup in 1982 and the title of Japan Soccer League (JSL) in 1987. In 1993, the team finished runners-up in the JFL and got promoted to the J.League. Also, the team changed its name to Jubilo Iwata.

The team won a lot of titles thanks to leading international players such as Gerald Vanenburg, Salvatore Schillaci and Dunga. Vanenburg used to play for Ajax Amsterdam, PSV Eindhoven and also was a member of the Holland national team with winning UEFA EURO 1988 in West Germany. Schillaci, who was the top scorer in 1990 FIFA World Cup Italy, appeared 78 matches and scored 56 goals in J-league. Dunga, who was the captain of the Brazil national team, influenced deeply winning philosophy to the club.

As of 2017, the team has become the J.League annual champion three times, the J.League stage champion 6 times and won J.League Yamazaki Nabisco Cup twice, the Emperor’s Cup once, FUJI XEROX SUPEER CUP once and AFC Asia Club Championship once.

The players who once played for the team include, Naohiro Takahara, who played an active role in the Hamburger SV and Daisuke Matsui, who played for Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1. In addition to them, many Japanese players who had played overseas such as Hiroshi Nanami, Toshiya Fujita once played for the team. Furthermore, it was announced that Shunsuke Nakamura, who is known for skillful attacking midfielder playing with Reggina, Celtic and Espanyol, would join the team in 2017.

The base color of the team’s home jersey is sax blue and the shirts were once supplied by Puma and Mizuno. Since 1997, Puma has been in charge of them successively. Its sponsors’ names are printed on the jerseys such as “YAMAHA”, “SALA”, “zen” and “Change”.
