Kashiwa Reysol is a J.League professional football club based in Kashiwa city, Chiba prefecture and its home stadium is Hitachi Kashiwa Stadium, which is known familiarly as Hitachidai.
The team was founded as an in-house football club of Hitachi, Ltd. in 1940 and one of the “Original 8”, eight founding members of the Japan Soccer League (JSL). Reysol got promoted to the J.League in 1994 thanks to great performances of Careca, who used to play for SSC Napoli with clinching UEFA Cup and Scudetto with Diego Maradona in 1980s and also was a member of the Brazil national team.
Kashiwa has won the J.League title once, J.League Yamazaki Nabisco Cup twice and the Emperor’s Cup once until 2016.
The players who once played for the team include ex FC Barcelona striker Hristo Stoichkov who was the top scorer in 1994 FIFA World Cup, former members of the Brazil national team such as Careca, Sampaio and Franca, Hong Myung-bo, who is one of the 100 great football players named by Pele and Hiroki Sakai, who now plays for Olympique de Marseille.
The team’s home jersey uses yellow and black as its base color and the shirts were once supplied by Adidas, Mizuno and Umbro. Since 2011, Yonex has been in charge of them. Its sponsors’ names are printed on the jerseys such as “HITACHI Inspire the Next”, “Aflac”, “KASHIWA Reysol x Save the Children JAPAN” and “LAWSON”.
