Kawasaki Frontale is a J.League professional football club based in Kawasaki city, Kanagawa prefecture and its home stadium is Todoroki Athletics Stadium.
The team was founded as Fujitsu Football Club in 1955 and current Kawasaki Frontale was established in 1996. Frontale won the J2 title in 1999 then got promoted to J1. Takashi Sekizuka, who managed the U-23 Japan national team for 2012 Summer Olympics in London, became the manager of the team in 2004. Since then, it has rapidly grown to a club which has a good shot at winning the J,League title.
The team has won the J2 title twice and must become a club in the running for J1 titles over the next few years though it has never won any of them so far.
The players who once played for the team include Hulk, Eiji Kawashima, Takayuki Morimoto, who played an active role in Catania S.p.A. and Yoshito Okubo, who played for RCD Mallorca in Spain and VfL Wolfsburg in Germany. In addition to them, Junichi Inamoto and Chong Tese also once played for the team.
The team’s home jersey uses light blue and black as its base color as a trace of its business partnership with Gremio. The shirts were once supplied by PENALTY and Asics then since 2011, Puma has been in charge of them. Its sponsors’ names are printed on the jersey such as “FUJITSU”, “arrows”, “SMBC” and “PFU”.
