Sagan Tosu is a J.League professional football club based in Tosu city, Saga prefecture and its home stadium is Best Amenity Stadium, which is used only for football.
The club was founded in 1997 then joined J2 in 1999, when the J.League introduced a two-division system.
The team has been getting stronger by acquiring many experienced J.League players since around 2005. Sagan also welcomed Yoon Jung-Hwan, who used to be a member of the team and the Korea national team, as its manager and finished the season in second place in 2011 then finally got promoted to J1 for the first time. Tosu has never been relegated to J2 though it has never won any titles so far since its promotion to J1.
The players who once played for the team include Mike Havenaar, who now plays for Den Haag in Netherlands and Koki Kiyotake, who is a younger brother of Hiroshi Kiyotake, who played for Sevilla and some small clubs in the Germany.
The team’s home jersey uses blue and pink as its base color. The outfits were once supplied by Nike, Mizuno, Umbro and Warrior Sports then since 2015, New Balance has been in charge of them.
Its sponsors’ names and their products’ logos are printed on the shirts such as “DHC”, “Cygames”, “Saga Shimbun” and “B”.
