Ventforet Kofu is a J.League professional football club mainly based in Kofu city, Nirasaki city also generally in Yamanashi prefecture, and its home stadium is Yamanashi Chuo Bank Stadium.
The team was founded as Kofu Soccer Club in 1965 and joined newly formed JSL2 in 1972.
It changed its name to Ventforet Kofu in 1995 then joined the J.League Division2 in 1999.
Ventforet won the J.League Promotion/Relegation Series against Kashiwa Reysol then got promoted to J1 for the first time in 2005. The team has advanced year after year in J1 though it has never won any titles other than the J2 champion in 2012.
The players who once played for the team include Mike Havenaar, who now plays an active role for ADO Den Haag in Eredivisie and Koki Mizuno, who played for Celtic in Scotland.
The base color of the team’s home jersey is blue and the shirts were once supplied by Umbro, Penalty and Ennerre. Then since 2011, Mizuno has been in charge of them. Its sponsors’ names and products’ logos are printed on the jerseyss such as “Baku Baku”, “Tokyo Electron Yamanashi”, “Koike” and “Yamanashi Chuo Bank”.
