Fujieda MYFC are a professional soccer club in the J. League and are presently in the J3 league. Their home towns in Shizuoka prefecture are: Fujieda, Shimada, Yaizu, Makinohara, Yoshida and Kawanehon. Their home stadium is the Fujieda Sports Complex Park.
The team was founded in 2009 with Fujieda Nelson CF as the parent organization. Their manager was one of Gamba Osaka’s first manager, Kunishige Kamamoto, but in essence he took on more of a supervisory role and Thoshihide Saito acted as both player and on the spot head coach. Saito, born in Simizu city, played in 244 matches for S-Pulse from 1996 to 2008 and was also a part of the Japan national team for the 1998 World Cup held in France.
In 2010 Fujieda MYFC merged with the Tokai Adult Soccer League’s first division team Shizuoka FC and won the Tokai League’s first division championship. They won again the next year and their entry into JFL was recognized by the Japan Football League committee.
In 2013 they were accepted into the Japan Professional Football League (J. League). They officially joined the same year and started in the J3 league in 2014. Manager Saito, who had led the team for a long period resigned that year and Saito’s number 2 was retired.
The team’s home jersey is light purple, which in Japan is traditionally called fujiiro. This fujiiro shirt is also worn in Fujiedahigashi Highschool’s soccer club, famous for its high school soccer. Makoto Hasabe, who is currently the Japan national team captain and playing for Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt is also from that school.
Fujieda MYFC’s jerseys have so far been supplied by “Razzoli” and “gol.”. They also have logos of their local sponsors like “Sakai Sangyo”, “Fukukobo” and others on their jerseys and shorts.
