Description

Yuya Osako, born in May 18th 1990, is a professional soccer player from Kagoshima prefecture. He is a forward player and currently in Bundesliga’s 1. FC Koln, fighting on the European stage.

He started playing soccer from early childhood and after entering Kagoshima Josei High School he was playing as a starter on his first year. On his 3rd year, during the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament, he broke the record for most points scored by a single player with 10 goals and 10 assists leaving his mark in the high school football record books.

Six J. League clubs fought over the right to sign Yuya, in the end he joined with the Kashima Antlers.

From his 2009 debut season he scored 6 goals, proving that his scoring ability is equal to the pros. On his second year he was given the number No. 9 jersey, along with the ace position on the team.

In 2013, after entering the pro scene, he achieved his first hat-trick and finished the season with 21 points, which earned him the Best XI award.

As a result, he was able to transfer to 2. Bundesliga’s TSV 1860 Munich. After joining the team, he played in over half of the matches (15 all together), managing to score 6 goals and 3 assists. With passable results, he moved up in his career by joining 1. Bundesliga’s 1. FC Koln the next season, where he continues to play even today.

From his 3rd season with Koln (the 2016-2017 season) he has been leading the charge together with French player Anthony Modeste. After moving abroad, he made his personal record for scoring 7 league goals and was also one of the main reasons the team made it to the UEFA Europa League.

In 2013 he was asked to join the Japan national adult team. He has then played in the 2013 East Asian Football Championship and the 2014 Brazil World Cup. People are looking forward to seeing him as the ace of the national team.

Osako announced he is moving to Werder Bremen from 2018-2019 season.
